I’m a Chicago trial lawyer with over 25 years of experience representing individuals and families whose civil rights have been violated through government misconduct, police brutality, and other injustices. Throughout my career, I’ve fought to hold powerful institutions accountable and to secure justice for victims of wrongful death, excessive force, and other constitutional violations. My work on the Laquan McDonald case brought national and international attention to Chicago’s “code of silence” surrounding police shootings, prompting a federal investigation and lasting policy reform within the Chicago Police Department. Before founding my firm, I served as a prosecutor in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office Gang Crimes Unit, where I tried first-degree murder cases involving Chicago’s street gangs. That experience gave me invaluable insight into both sides of the courtroom — insight I now use to protect the rights of my clients and their families.
